Film Savannah

In recent years the entertainment industry has exploded in the Savannah area with more than $61 million in direct economic spend in 2016 alone.

SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, Magic Mike XXL, Dirty Grandpa, The Do Over, The Birth of a Nation and the soon to be released films Gifted, Baywatch, and Coup D' etat all filmed in the Savannah area as well season two of the critically acclaimed TV series, Underground. For a complete list of entertainment productions that have been shot in the Savannah region, please visit here.

The Savannah Area Film Office, a certified Film Commission, is the central point of contact for entertainment prodution in our region. The film office promotes the Savannah area as a premiere film destination and functions as a liaison between film companies and various municipalities in the Savannah area. They provide location assistance and coordination with local crew and support services. 

The Savannah Area Film Office is a partnership between SEDA, the City of Savannah and Chatham County. 
 
The Savannah Economic Development Authority offers the Savannah Entertainment Production Incentives. The local incentives partnered with Georgia’s already existing incentives, are helping build a sustainable production industry by increasing the number of qualified crew members living and working in the area and increasing the number of film and television productions in Chatham County.
 
The Savannah Entertainment Production Incentives includes two distinct incentives:
  • Cash rebates for feature films and televisions series for qualified productions.
  • Relocation expenses reimbursement of up to $2,000 per household for qualified moving expenses for qualified applicants.
