Living Here

Real People

Kate and Bradley Taylor

But they agree, it’s a “different kind of work,” as Kate puts it. “In California, we lived in a company town. There was no escaping work. But Savannah has more diversity in people and things to do.”

Their favorite activities include coastal kayaking. “We’re enamored with the ocean, the salt marshes, the tidal rivers and creeks. We especially love exploring around Little Tybee (Island),” says Bradley, referring to an unpopulated nature preserve.

They also enjoy strolling the sands of Tybee Island, Savannah’s closest beach, where “the water is like a big bathtub, warm and calm,” Bradley says.

Old Savannah charms them, too. "I love the organic feel of the historic district and the old houses," Bradley says. "Sometimes when Kate and I are walking downtown, we stop in a square, look at each other and say, 'We can’t believe we really live here.'"
