High Tech Facilities and Quality Craftsmen
The Savannah region has witnessed the growth of companies like Thunderbolt Marine and Savannah Yacht Center whose facilities, which include controlled spray painting bays, can accommodate vessels up to 200-foot and the artisan craftsmen needed to do the detailed woodwork on boats from large to small. Savannah has also boomed in part because of Georgia’s superior tax advantage over Florida. In 2017, Georgia passed legislation to provide taxation incentives in the form non-taxation for purchases over $500,000. Savannah is also located north of the hurricane cut-off point which is important to vessels and also their insurance companies.
In addition, Hinckley Yachts operates a manufacturing facility in Savannah and international marine technology company Raceix recently opened their first U.S. operations in Savannah.
